To turn the gaze around, shift perspectives, and look at stories and history from a different angle: this is the gesture at the heart of Archivio Aperto’s 19th edition. Turning worlds upside down and overturning the media.
The Upside Down focus explores activism and media activism. From the broadcasts of Orfeo TV—the first street television station, born as a tool of Situationist provocation and a defence of freedom of information against Berlusconi’s television monopoly—to Radio Alice, the historic activist radio station founded in Bologna. From the punk, riot grrrl, emo and queercore fanzines preserved by Compulsive Archive to memories of the Genoa G8, 25 years on.
Different experiences, bound by the same drive: to seek out, imagine and build other possible worlds together.
Let’s turn things upside down.
