The film was shot in the artist’s studio in Piazza Santo Spirito and features the author himself, together with Massimo Becattini, Renato Ranaldi, and Nicola Paoli, in a lively collaboration between some of the most active artists in the context of the so-called Florence School.
The characters, treated in partial and sudden appearances, together with the movement of objects or color shifts in an almost immobile image structure, are used as the dynamic key to the film. The work is part of the cycle L’Immobile Movimento (The Immobile Movement), composed of films and works linked to the thesis that even a still image can contain movement.
In particular, Morte del Movimento proposes an exercise in perceptual attention, transforming the projection into a sort of collective performance: before viewing, the artist invited the audience to improvise a live soundtrack based on the unpredictable stasis or dynamics of the images. In the 2025 edition, the Archivio Aperto audience will also be asked to participate in the creation of an improvised soundtrack.
