The full programme for the 19th edition of Archivio Aperto is now online!

The International Competition selection features 16 works, including feature-length and short films, with 13 Italian premieres offering a glimpse into the complexities of the world we live in. This year also brings something new: the Open Frame Competition, dedicated to international archive-based short films produced at universities and art academies.

Mark your calendars for some unmissable events: from Unsettling Genealogies, a research project by Alessandra Ferrini presented in the festival’s project room, which explores the fascist origins of certain Italian art institutions while also examining the personal and emotional dimensions of history, to Focus Upside Down, a series of screenings and discussions exploring militant practices and media activism; from L’Archivio che non c’è (The Archive That Isn’t There), a section featuring the documentary A Place in the Italian Sun, which brings to light a little-known history of colonial violence, exile and imprisonment, to Storie Sperimentali (Experimental Stories), a retrospective dedicated to Stan Brakhage featuring an exceptional programme of the first cycle of his celebrated Songs, silent visual compositions screened on original 8mm film.

See you in Bologna from October 22 to 26!
