Synopsis

An extended myth traced directly onto film stock that has been painted, dyed, and treated with crystals and mold, transforming into textures of figures and forms. Brakhage also employed melted wax crayons and adhered real objects—such as moth wings—to the celluloid. The images intertwine within an organic, visionary universe, edited according to a system of themes and variations that evokes Baroque music, drawing inspiration from the harpsichord sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti.
