North Africa, filmed during the colonial and postcolonial eras through the amateur movie cameras of travellers, settlers, tourists, artists and journalists. We will journey through time, from the 1920s to the 1980s, and across space, from Morocco to Algeria, Tunisia and Libya, and finally to Egypt. Countries lying between sea and desert, between the Mediterranean and the Sahara. These perspectives from the outside, from Italy, reflect an attempt at appropriation and, at times, also at understanding and empathy.
