In February 1974, in Paris, filmmakers and teachers Claudine Eizykman and Guy Fihman, together with some of their students from the Cinema Department of the Université Paris VIII, founded the Paris Film Coop, an independent structure, self-managed by filmmakers to provide access to their films: independent, experimental, avant-garde.
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, Archivio Aperto is hosting a carte blanche dedicated to rediscovering the early years of the Paris Film Coop, starting with a selection of films made by female filmmakers between the second half of the 1970s and the early 1980s, screened on film. The works that make up the Désirs / Déroutes program incorporate, in the structure and movement of the images, the energetic drive of feminist thought, in a flow of perceptions and desires that pass through bodies, gestures, and gazes.
