Monica Maurer and Cahide Ozel are bound together by images. The images that Cahide misses and the images that Monica patiently restores. They are two women from different backgrounds and generations who share a belief in one people, in the political construction of the present; who have the same quest for a safe place to build a fragile memory, uncertainly resisting to oblivion.

Biography
Filmmaker and visual artist Aude Fourel works mainly with super-8 film, which she confronts with digital technologies to explore the instabilities of the image. Her films straddle the line between documentary essay and artist’s film. The main theme of her work is the stories of anonymous political struggles in the silent folds of Mediterranean history.
Statement
I wanted to work with outtakes that hadn’t been used in the final cuts of the films from which they were taken. These are shots that were left out of the final edit. The outtakes I used all come from films shot in the 1970s or the very early 1980s. I wanted to use these images that had been left out, at a time when the films were driven by the urgency of an immediate political narrative. I was very curious about these unedited images and felt that they still had a great deal to tell us today.
