It takes very little for everything to appear in a different way. The date, the time of day, the weather, the way one looks at things, the spatial arrangement, one’s state of mind… Everything can always change. That is why sailboats can be found sailing in a sea of poppies, ideally—and peculiarly—merging two subjects of Van Gogh’s painting, among which the famous Bateaux en mer (1888) and Champ de coquelicots (1890).
