During the Second Intifada in occupied Palestine, fear, siege, and death define the reality of the city of Hebron. Biography
Shayma’ Awawdeh, born in 1994, is a Palestinian filmmaker. A graduate of Dar-Alkalima University with a degree in documentary filmmaking, she directed two short films as part of her studies: 4th Floor (2018) and This Home is Ours (2024). She also works as a director of photography and camera assistant on several short films and leads filmmaking workshops for children. Intersecting Memory, produced by GREC with support from the CNC and Périphérie, was part of the Sawa Sawa residency program.
Statement
The archival material was the starting point of the film and gradually became its emotional and narrative foundation. While digitizing a collection of videotapes, watching the footage brought back childhood memories. I realized that these recordings were not simply documents of the past, but carried emotions, details of everyday life, and a particular sense of place and time.
