Anna Masecchia
Associate Professor at the University of Florence, where she teaches Visual Culture and coordinates the Master’s Degree Programme in Performing Arts. For many years, her research has focused on women’s perspectives and representations of women in cinema. She has led a research unit on actresses’ autobiographical writings and is one of Italy’s leading scholars of Agnès Varda’s cinema. She has written two monographs on the French filmmaker and artist—Mi ricordo mentre vivo. Agnès Varda (Electa, 2026) and Les plages d’Agnès (Carocci, 2024)—and curated a film retrospective in collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna on the occasion of the exhibition Viva Varda! Il cinema è donna. Her publications also include Vittorio De Sica. Storia di un attore (Kaplan, 2012), Al cinema con Proust (Marsilio, 2009), and Cinema, letteratura, media (Carocci, 2023), co-authored with Giulia Carluccio and Stefania Rimini.
André Habib
Full Professor in the Department of Art History, Cinema and Audiovisual Media at the Université de Montréal. He is the author of La main gauche de Jean-Pierre Léaud (Boréal, 2015) and L’attrait de la ruine (Yellow Now, 2011). He also co-edited, with Louis Pelletier and Jean-Pierre Sirois-Trahan, Collecting Cinema. Rewriting Film History (AUP, 2025) and Le cinéma dans l’œil du collectionneur (PUM, 2023). He is the editor of the online journal Hors champ, created Zoom Out, a platform for critical reflection and audiovisual creation, and directs the Cadavre exquis project. His research has focused on the aesthetics of ruins, cinephilia, archives, and experimental found-footage cinema, and, more recently, on melancholy and nostalgia.
Alessandro Rossi
Alessandro Rossi is a documentary filmmaker, director, and screenwriter. Together with Michele Mellara, he has created much of his body of work, including Fortezza Bastiani (Solinas Award), Le vie dei farmaci, La febbre del fare, God Save the Green, Vivere che rischio, 50 Santarcangelo Festival, Berchidda Live, and Arrivederci Berlinguer!, works that have received awards and been presented at international festivals. He is a founding partner of Mammut Film, one of Emilia-Romagna’s leading documentary film production companies. In 2024, he wrote and directed the comedy series Universitas Tenbrarum, available on Prime Video. He teaches film at DAMS in Bologna, serves on the national board of 100Autori, and produces radio documentaries for Rai Radio3. He is also the author of two poetry collections.
