Initially not meant to be included in the program, Impromptu was part of a series of works shown at the International Experimental Film Congress of Toronto (1989). It was later distributed to appease the requests to show its nature as a work-in-progress. Its title reflects its “impromptu” (improvised) nature, characterized by a series of unplanned elements (sounds, actors, end credits, and an unexpected distribution) that are, however, merged with meticulous work on the images. Edited in camera during shooting by rewinding the film multiple times, the film is visually based on the intertwining of different moments of time.
